Big Foot, Big Body, Big Wine!

Judges selection 2013, 2014, 2015 and Best of Class in 2016 – Alberta Beverage Awards.

Silver Medal in the North West Wine Summit 2013.

Saskwatch presents everything you expect from a well structured dry red wine, but it is unique.  Delicate ripe fruits followed by notes of spiced dark chocolate and balanced with flavours of smoky oak to end in a lingering smooth finish. It pairs well with red meats, especially BBQ, lam and game and is best served at room temperature.  Due to its smooth finish, Saskwatch is unique as a red wine in that it can be paired with bold and spicy flavours like Mexican, Indian or Thai, and it also makes a great cheese wine.

Saskwatch is crafted from Alberta’s Saskatoons, Black Currants and Spirit Hills honey.  The berries are treated like red grapes in a red wine making process and actually contain the same elements which give red grape wine its colour and flavor, but in a much higher concentration.  All colour and flavour is extracted from the skins during an extensive maceration period. The wine is fermented dry and aged in oak barrels.  Let a taste of Alberta enrich your meat dishes or simply enjoy it on the deck or after a meal paired with some chocolate or cheese.

Antioxidants:

A food lab in Edmonton has analyzed Saskwatch for its minerals, vitamins and antioxidants. The antioxidant results were so off the scale the lab retested the wine to make sure their results were correct. Red wine is known for its antioxidants and a 5 ounce glass contains on average 320 mg of polyphenol antioxidants. Saskwatch contains 31,500 mg of polyphenol antioxidants in a 5 ounce glass, or the equivalent of 100 glasses of red wine.

Food pairing:

Saskwatch is very versatile in its food pairings.  It is great with any red meat like a good roast or steak and spectacular with game and BBQ.  It pairs well with anything with bold flavours and is unique as a red wine in that it pairs beautifully with spicy foods like Mexican, Thai or Indian.
